Doesnt Do Anything

Postby zoba » Tue Jan 26, 2010 8:30 pm

When I try to mount a .iso from the context menu, the screen comes up and asks which drive I want it mounted it. I select V, press ok, and then nothing happens. I can't uninstall the program because when I select "yes" that I'm sure I want to uninstall, nothing happens. I can't reinstall because when I try the installer gets stuck at finalizing installation. The unsigned driver message does come up, but the install never finishes.

It had been working fine until recently. I'm using Windows XP and since the last time it worked until now I've installed iTunes, the JDK, Netbeans, and Sun SPOT manager. I also have ImgBurn installed on my system, figured I should mention it since I saw it elsewhere on this forum.

Please try this fix: http://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/wcdcleanup.exe
Please inform me whether it solves your problem. If it does, I'll fix the next version of WinCDEmu

Same for me, running Window 7 Prof 64. It actually does someting, windows recognizes a driver install for some cdrom, but this fails. Now I do not get it uninstalled, the uninstall procedure runs but the context menu has still the entry "mount ...". Yes, I did run the cleaning tool as well, rebooted, no effect.

Same problem exactly. ISO does not mount after drive name prompt. Cannot uninstall - uninstaller stops after asking confirmation. Cleanup program runs, says cleanup completed, but full installation remains. Running Windows XP SP3. Help!

So I ran the program, nothing seemed to be different. I tried to uninstall and nothing happened. I restarted and then I successfully uninstalled. Nothing will mount now though now it actually attempts to mount, so I'm going to restart again and see what happens.

It's not my intent to hijack this thread, but I was having the exact same problem after installing iTunes under WinXP.

Whenever I tried to mount an image, the machine just went out to lunch and didn't do anything other than let me choose a drive letter to mount to. So I uninstalled through Add / Remove programs, then rebooted and re-installed - same nothingness. Searched and found this thread, and here's what worked for me:

Uninstalled WinCDEmu through Add / Remove Programs.
    Rebooted.
Ran the fix as specified above ( http://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/wcdcleanup.exe ).
    Rebooted.
    Reinstalled WinCDEmu.
    Rebooted.
Successfully mounted an .iso image to drive letter V:
Thank you :D

One note, though - at all levels of removal, "Select drive letter & mount" was always present in the Context Menu - just something you may want to add to the wcdcleanup routine.
EDIT: seems the "Select drive letter & mount" entry in the context menu may have been from the 'Sonic RecordNow!' software I had installed on my machine.

WinCDEmu is a great little program - very much appreciated!

Cleanup program removes registry entries with history of previously mounted images. After running it you should be able to uninstall WinCDEmu using the normal uninstaller (you might need to reboot after running cleanup). The problem with registry paths is a known compatibility issue and will be resolved in the next release of WinCDEmu.

Is the device shown in the Device Manager? And in the "drive management" under "my computer -> manage"?

"CD-ROM drive" was made under "DVD/CD-ROM Drive" in device manager.
but no drive was appeared in "MY Computer".

and no wincd-emu drive in the "drive management".
my drive management shows only my physical drives.
Disk 0 : HDD
Disk 1 : Removal disk
CD-ROM 0 : = HL-DT-ST DVD-RAM GH22NP20
